Barbican Estate, London
Designed by architects Chamberlin, Powell and Bon, the Barbican Estate (1965-1976) is located on a 14 hectare site devastated by World War II bombing. This prominent example of British brutalist architecture was deservedly awarded Grade II listed status in 2001. The complex consists of around 2,000 flats, maisonettes and houses together with the Barbican Arts Centre, the Museum of London and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
