Staircases

Visiting post-war and modern buildings I became captivated by the staircases: design transcending function, some sculptural, some artistic with Escher-like forms. Others appear to be capable of rotation. Below is a selection of staircases by architects including Berthold Lubetkin; Chamberlin, Powell and Bon; Lubetkin, Skinner and Bailey; Herzog and de Meuron; and Neave Brown.
